The Holy Post - Oct-Nov 09
Dear Friends,
In a recent sermon, I lifted up the importance of opportunities. Galatians 5:16 says “make the most of every opportunity.” God opens windows for us every day to share the love of Christ. Are we open and eager to find them? As a church we can take advantage of opportunities right in front of us to join God at work in the world.
During the month of October, we will be preparing for several important opportunities to introduce new people to our church and welcome them in the name of the Lord. First, the Country Fair will be on November 7th. This fun tradition at CRUMC may seem like “old-hat” to many but there are always new opportunities! This year we will implement some new efforts to make personal connections with those who visit our Fair. 1) We will host a “Friends & Family” Sunday, on Nov. 1st for you to invite a new or “renewed” friend to church. Any first time visitors will receive complimentary chicken BBQ tickets. 2) We’ll invite our guests to participate in a prize drawing so we can contact them later with a gift and/or special event information like Christmas Eve services. 3) We will have official Greeters strolling the grounds offering welcome and assistance to our guests.
Speaking of Christmas, the tree lot we host is a perfect opportunity to make connections and even practice some random acts of kindness. Coffee anyone? What better time of year to invite family, co-workers, neighbors to attend church; and, as I said, we’ll use our new mailing list to invite our community friends to the services for the season. Although it sounds early, we need to start looking and planning for opportunities that are right before us. I’m excited for this upcoming season and to see what God is going do at CRUMC! Thanks for your participation!
