This month it is my privilege to feature one of our favorite church families. We are so fortunate that Pastor Sam, Yvonne and Rebekah Joy are here with us.
Sam has a full time job with his duties as pastor to our church and does a great job, but for this article I want to focus on some of the many extra things he does for us. He ends up being on call 24 hours a day. I have heard of him making many trips to the hospital in the middle of the night to be with people who are sick or grieving. I think he has probably made it to all the hospitals in South Florida. He is kindhearted to people in trouble.
He is a great teacher and we all benefit, from the preschoolers in Chapel to the Disciple Classes to our current Sunday School Class on the Dead Sea Scrolls. He is also great at making sure the utilities are operational and we have our air conditioning working and are comfortable. He meets with contractors for repairs to our church buildings and has arranged for termite tenting. Our new sign is kept up to date and interesting when he changes it every week.
Yvonne and Sam took over Cool Kids 4 Jesus when Rebekah Joy was getting ready for her wedding. Yvonne serves as our Sunday School Superintendent and she is the Coordinator for Children’s Church. She is instrumental in planning for and running our Vacation Bible School. She has also been in charge of the Easter egg hunt for the past two years. She is the secretary for the Preschool Board.
We are blessed to have Rebekah Joy as our Administrative Assistant. She has been the volunteer director of Cool Kids for the past few years. We love having her in choir and enjoy her beautiful voice. She recently married Tiny and we wish them the best.
