Dear Friends,
Last Sunday Dot Bardsley stood up and asked who loves this church. It looked to me like everyone raised their hands. Then she asked how many would like to see more people in church. Again it looked unanimous. Then she asked how many are willing to help make that happen. Still nearly all people raised their hands. Then she explained about people putting packets on their neighbors’ door to invite them to church during Holy Week. I appreciate Dot and all the members of the Natural Church Development Team. I also appreciate all of you, who actually hung those packets on neighbors’ doorknobs.
What is the best way to bring new people into the church? You are. All research shows that most people come to a church because someone attending that church invites them. Yes, we’ve had some come because of our church sign. That’s wonderful! At least one family, came to us through the Internet. That’s fantastic! Our new website will attract some new people. Thanks, Dan Churchill!
Remember our congregation’s mission? To become true friends of Christ and to win new friends for Christ. We serve a gracious, merciful and loving God and we have a wonderful church. Let’s not keep this a secret.
Holy Week is a great time to invite people to our church. You could tell them about our worship service with great music on Palm Sunday (and no preaching!). You could tell them about our Good Friday worship service with great music and mini-sermons from different Christian perspectives. If they have kids, tell them about our Free Easter Egg Hunt. Then there’s the drama and Holy Communion on Holy Thursday and the Easter Sunrise service on Biscayne Bay and our 10:30 Easter Service. Or, hang a plastic bag with all this information on their doorknobs. The Good News of Jesus Christ and the wonderful family at CRUMC are too good to keep to ourselves. Thanks! Happy Easter!
Sam
