E-Devo February 10, 2010

Hello All,

This past weekend we started a new series on the “I AM” statements in the Gospel of John. On Sunday, we talked about how Jesus identified himself by using the ancient name of God given to the Jewish fathers, I AM. Yes, Jesus claimed to be One with God, The Great I AM. God wants to us to know Him personally and deeply. For this reason, God wants us to call on Him by name; and Jesus tells us what that name can mean to us. This week we’ll talk about “I AM The Bread of Life.” I encourage you to read John 6: 1-51 (Hint: Jesus says it twice in verses 35 & 48) to see what this name of God can mean for you. Sunday is going to be a great day to celebrate God’s love…See you then!

I Am

I was regretting the past

And fearing the future…

Suddenly my Lord was speaking:

“MY NAME IS I AM.” He paused.

I waited. He continued,

“WHEN YOU LIVE IN THE PAST,

WITH ITS MISTAKES AND REGRETS,

IT IS HARD. I AM NOT THERE.

MY NAME IS NOT I WAS.

“WHEN YOU LIVE IN THE FUTURE,

WITH ITS PROBLEMS AND FEARS,

IT IS HARD. I AM NOT THERE.

MY NAME IS NOT I WILL BE.

“WHEN YOU LIVE IN THE MOMENT,

IT’S NOT HARD.

I AM HERE.

MY NAME IS IAM.”
