March ‘08 Joint Mission Project for
Cutler Ridge United Methodist Church and Kindergarten
Happy Spring to everyone!
We are delighted to announce to you our upcoming joint mission project. We have selected to sponsor the newborn babies and the young mothers of “W.I.N.G.S. for Life” (Women in Need of Greater Strength). This is a residential program for women ages 14-19 who are pregnant or who have recently given birth. The program prepares the young women for motherhood and teaches them parenting skills while allowing them to continue with school as well as providing mental health and medical care. It also provides a safe haven for the newborns.
Currently at WINGS, there are 15 mothers who are residents and 7 newborns with a few other babies soon to make their debut into the world. Many of these families are in a transition period and perhaps end up in the homeless shelter after they have completed this program. The more we can do to equip these mothers for their transition, the safer the babies will be. In the next few days, we will be posting a sign-up sheet for parents on the bulletin board on the stairwell door and a sign-up sheet for church members in the narthex where you can select from various items that this organization is in need of for these infants and their mothers. If you are unable to purchase the item but would still like to partake in the project, please let us know, and we will collect your money and purchase the item for you. This project is by no means an obligation.
Please have all items no later than Wednesday March 26, 2008 at noon. Parents can drop them off in the box labeled W.I.N.G.S. drive and church members can drop them off in the narthex. They will be collected by the staff at W.I.N.G.S.
If you have any questions regarding this project, please do not hesitate to contact one of us via e-mail at dd221@bellsouth.net or adriananyc@bellsouth.net. If you would like further information about W.I.N.G.S. for Life (Women In Need of Greater Strength), please visit their website at:
